When I Dream is a lively hidden-role word game built around the strange logic of dreams. In each round one player becomes the Dreamer, wears the included sleep mask, and listens while the other players give rapid one-word clues to a sequence of illustrated elements. Their secret roles pull in different directions. Fairies want correct guesses, Boogeymen want mistakes, and Sandmen score best when success and failure remain balanced. A two-minute timer keeps the clues flowing and prevents the Dreamer from dwelling on any one image. After the night phase, the mask comes off and the Dreamer retells the dream as a story, earning bonus points for remembering the correctly guessed elements in sequence. Then the spirits reveal themselves, score according to their agendas, and the role of Dreamer passes on. Because every clue must obey strict communication limits, even honest help can sound suspicious, while a clever saboteur can hide among plausible associations. The 110 double-sided dream cards mix hundreds of illustrations from twenty artists, so the improvised stories are rarely alike. After everyone has dreamed once, the player with the most points wins.
