Vol de Nuit has a moderate influence of luck. Random elements like dice rolls or card draws have a notable but not exclusive impact on the game outcome. Overview
Vol de Nuit (Night Flight) is inspired by the masterpiece of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. The game is meant as a tribute to Saint-Exupéry’s work, and was realized in partnership with the Fondation Saint-Exupéry. Fly through the night until you see the first light of the day, or sink into the dark ocean of a dawnless flight. In this cooperative game from 2 to 5, players are a team of airmail pilots of the Aéropostale, tasked with delivering the mail from Patagonia. However, many dangers await them along their night flight: storms, wind, fog, and other disturbances. To win, they’ll need to communicate and cooperate, maintain hope, and stay alive until dawn. You must cooperate to move the plane on the board, avoiding as many dangerous spaces as possible. Your crew’s goal is to fly until dawn, and see the sun rise on a new day. To advance, you must prepare a detailed Flight Plan – however, the quality of your communications will depend on many cards, as well as on the Hope Gauge that will progressively decrease as your group encounters various disturbances cards. To go forward, you’ll need to elaborate your strategy, listen to each other, and trust the Captain of the turn. Each turn has three phases : drawing phase, planning phase and the piloting phase, where you’ll move the Plane token. If you manage to reach a Dawn Hex, then you all win! You’ll be able to deliver the mail, and live to see another day. If you run out of Hope however, or if you exhaust your Fuel Stack, then the game is lost: the plane crashed into the deep of the night. Vol de Nuit / Night Flight offers many components: 6 double-sided combinable terrain boards to play games that differ from each other, 3 Relay Tiles for a special game mode, and more than 150 cards! —description from publisher
