The Reckoners is a simultaneous cooperative dice game based on Brandon Sanderson’s novels. Each player controls a member of the resistance in Steelheart’s occupied Newcago and rolls a personal pool of action dice. Everyone may re-roll up to three times, discussing priorities while deciding which symbols to keep. The final dice become movement, research, attack, money, containment, and special actions that are resolved across modular city districts. Players must contain ordinary Epics, dismantle Enforcement, buy equipment, and collect the research needed to reveal weaknesses; Steelheart cannot be harmed until his own research value reaches zero. The opposition then retaliates through Epic abilities, population loss, new Enforcement, and Steelheart’s destructive movement through the city. Equipment, Plan tokens, and upgraded dice give the team increasingly flexible turns, but every district presents competing emergencies. The Reckoners win only by defeating Steelheart. They lose immediately if Newcago’s population reaches zero, making the game a tense exercise in cooperative triage, careful sequencing, and turning uncertain rolls into a shared plan.
