Spooktacular begins on Halloween night in 1986 when lightning tears through an all-night film festival and releases a century of cinematic monsters from the screen. Each player controls one of twenty distinct monsters, from accessible terrors to advanced oddities, with a dedicated board that changes the order, rules, and rewards of the same core actions. Cards let monsters move through theater rooms, spook guests into adjacent spaces, devour victims for colored sets, and trigger special powers. Guest placement, door connections, tickets, and other monsters create a busy shared board, while simple turn structure keeps the chaos moving. Solo play supplies its own automated menace. Reaching fifty points or exhausting the ticket supply triggers the finale; after tickets are scored, the monster with the highest total becomes the film festival’s unforgettable star.
