A Wild Venture

Build it, use it, let it go: this cozy two-player engine builder rewards the cards you finish, not the impressive machine you leave running.

Read the full game description

A Wild Venture is a head-to-head engine-building card game in which progress depends on knowing when to take an engine apart. Two rivals compete for the Community Cup by helping villagers, gathering coins and supplies, and sending adventurers along a double-sided map. Both players draft from the same deck, so every desirable card is also something the opponent may claim first. Cards enter a personal tableau with actions, resources, and combo hooks, but they are not permanent infrastructure. Repeated use advances them toward completion, and only cards that have been fully used and removed will score. That creates a distinctive rhythm: assemble a productive network, exploit its synergies, then deliberately dismantle it before the game ends. Adventure spaces and shared markets create direct tempo pressure, while two themed sets and 108 unique cards support different economies and tactical pivots. Turns stay quick, but each choice has two time horizons—what the card produces now and how efficiently it can be converted into final value. The winner is the player who contributes the most to the village and finishes with the strongest pile of completed cards, not the largest engine still sitting on the table.
