Ice Lake has a high level of direct confrontation and strategic depth, with frequent interaction among players. However, the game does not emphasize cooperation as much.
Ice Lake offers a high level of variability with its gameboard, allowing for different experiences each time it is played. The presence of expansions adds new content and gameplay elements, enhancing replay value. The game also provides deep strategic possibilities and room for players to improve their tactics over time. The player interaction score is moderate, and the game scales well with different numbers of players. While it may take some time to learn, the depth it offers makes it worth the effort. Overall, Ice Lake has a strong replayability score of 7.85.
Ice Lake has a moderate level of luck involved in the game. Random elements such as dice rolls or card draws have a notable but not exclusive impact on the game outcome. Players have some ability to influence or mitigate the effects of randomness through strategic decisions and planning. The game relies on a balanced mix of luck and strategy, with neither element dominating the outcome.
Overview
Players are ice skaters on thin ice. As they skate they leave cracks behind them (which are drawn on the board with dry erase markers). Any area completely surrounded by cracks is unstable, so if you're surrounded by cracks you're out of the game. The goal is to be the last one still on the ice. Play is in two phases: first players write their "plans", and then they take turns moving their skaters each "step" of their plan.
