Replay value

hexx & hopp has a high replayability score due to its high variability gameboard, impactful expansions, deep strategic possibilities, and good scalability. While it may take some time to learn, the game offers a fresh and engaging experience each time it is played.

Luck profile

Hexx & Hopp has a moderate influence of luck. Random elements have a notable but not exclusive impact on the game outcome. Players have substantial ability to mitigate randomness through strategic decisions and planning. The game outcome is primarily determined by player strategy and decisions, with luck playing a minor role.

Overview

The players try to create a structure on the table as quick as possible using 13-15 hexagonal tiles each. At least 2 sides must match when adding a new tile. To make matters worse, each player can only see one of his tiles at a time. There are 72 different tiles, each with 6 different colored triangles in red, yellow, blue and white, and each color can occur up to 3 times on a tile. If you place a tile that's adjacent to 3 other tiles, you give 2 of your tiles to the other players. If you match 4 then you give 4 tiles, and if you match 5 then you give 6 tiles. Whenever you place a tile you must say loudly the number of adjacent tiles. When a player finishes placing the tiles, everyone stops and counts their points: tiles still in hand are negative points. The player with the fewest negative points after an agreed number of rounds wins.
